Pagoda Street is a historic street in Chinatown named after the towering gopuram, or entrance tower, of nearby Sri Mariamman Temple, which early Chinese immigrants used as a landmark. Once home to early Chinese immigrants, traders and coolie quarters, the street is now lined with conserved shophouses, souvenir shops and traditional businesses. Visitors can explore the colourful heritage streetscape, browse local souvenirs and visit the Chinatown Heritage Centre to learn about the lives of early Chinese settlers.
